The Imo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated a new State Executive Committee (SEC) to steer the party’s affairs as it prepares for the upcoming general elections. According to the party, the inauguration of the SEC members marks the beginning of a new era of transformative leadership focused on securing electoral success.
In his address to party members following the inauguration, the newly elected chairman of the committee, Prof. James Okoroma, assured the people of Imo State that the ADC would be a political force built on integrity and inclusiveness. Okoroma emphasized that the party would remain committed to grassroots politics, which he believes is crucial to fostering credible leadership. He also assured Imo residents that their voices would no longer be ignored.
“We stand today as a beacon of political reawakening,” Okoroma stated. “The ADC will not compromise on justice, fairness, and people-driven governance. The journey to rescue Imo has just begun, and we will not relent in our efforts to save the State and secure a better future for our children.”
The ADC chairman also criticized the current leadership in Imo, citing the state’s inability to attract investment over the past five years. According to Okoroma, Imo has lagged behind other southeastern states in terms of infrastructure and human capital development, blaming a “collapse of leadership.” He expressed confidence that ADC’s leadership would bring about a much-needed transformation.
“The state can no longer operate like a personal enterprise,” Okoroma asserted. “ADC is poised to reposition Imo State and provide effective leadership for the people.”
The newly inaugurated SEC members were also advised by Bon Unachukwu, the party’s National Vice Chairman (South East), who urged them to carry out their duties with diligence. Unachukwu highlighted that the ADC’s mission is to strengthen democracy and offer credible leadership, particularly for the people of Imo.
He expressed optimism about the future of the state, saying that with the inauguration of the SEC members, ADC’s goal of repositioning Imo is both achievable and within reach.
