The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has responded sharply to accusations from Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who alleged that the APC and the Federal Government were prioritizing 2027 elections over governance. In a statement issued by the party’s spokesman, Seye Oladejo, the APC made it clear that it was not distracted by future political maneuvering.
Oladejo described Governor Mohammed’s remarks as a “misplaced outburst from a frustrated opposition,” insisting that President Bola Tinubu and the APC remain fully committed to their governance agenda. He emphasized that the party’s focus continues to be on implementing bold reforms in the economy, security, infrastructure, and institutional development.
“Tinubu and the APC remain fully focused on our governance agenda, facing the tough challenges of nation-building head-on,” Oladejo said. He accused the opposition of grandstanding in the media while the ruling party works diligently to address Nigeria’s core issues.
The APC spokesperson also urged Governor Mohammed to take a cue from Lagos State, which he described as a model of consistent, visionary governance under the APC. Oladejo suggested that instead of making baseless attacks on the APC and the Federal Government, Governor Mohammed should focus on improving governance in Bauchi State.
While the APC respected the right of opposition leaders to express their views, Oladejo expressed disappointment that such claims were coming from a sitting governor. He called on Mohammed to redirect his energy towards governance rather than engaging in what he called “chasing shadows.”
