Ministers, regulators, and top industry leaders are set to gather in Lagos on October 9, 2025, for the Annual NAEC Energy Conference, an event that will bring together policymakers and operators across Nigeria’s oil, gas, and power sectors.
The Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC), organisers of the conference, announced that this year’s theme will be “Nigeria’s Energy Future: Exploring Opportunities and Addressing Risks for Sustainable Growth.” The event is expected to serve as a platform for critical discussions on the country’s energy sector, with focus on reforms, investments, and sustainability.
According to a statement by the organisers, the keynote addresses will be delivered by key government officials and regulators, including the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Mr. Ekperikpe Ekpo; and the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.

The President of Masters Energy Group, Dr. Uche Ogah, has been named as the chairman of the conference, which will feature three major panel sessions focusing on upstream growth, midstream and downstream infrastructure, and power sector reforms.
The organisers further disclosed that the maiden edition of the NAEC Industry Awards will be unveiled during the conference to celebrate innovation and excellence within the Nigerian energy sector.

The Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, Dr. Adeola Yusuf, stated that this year’s edition will also feature a pre-conference workshop for NAEC members, which will be sponsored by a leading Nigerian energy company. The workshop is expected to prepare journalists for better sectoral reporting and deepen their understanding of the complexities of the oil, gas, and power industries.
The NAEC Energy Conference has, over the years, become an important meeting point for decision-makers in Nigeria’s energy space. It provides a platform for dialogue between government, regulators, operators, and stakeholders to address challenges and identify opportunities for growth.
This year’s focus on sustainability reflects global shifts in the energy sector, as countries balance between fossil fuel reliance and the push for cleaner energy sources. For Nigeria, discussions are expected to highlight the future of gas as a transition fuel, strategies to improve power generation and distribution, as well as the need for investment in infrastructure to support both oil and renewable projects.
Analysts note that the attendance of top policymakers and industry executives signals the importance of the event to the government’s energy transition agenda and efforts to attract private capital into critical projects. With the addition of the NAEC Industry Awards, the conference is also expected to recognise organisations that have made significant contributions to Nigeria’s energy development.
The gathering will likely shape policy conversations in the months ahead as stakeholders debate how to balance energy security, affordability, and sustainability in Africa’s largest economy.
