More than 80 brands have expressed interest in investing in Nigeria’s growing urban infrastructure sector after the successful hosting of the first Lift Expo Nigeria 2025 in Lagos.
The three-day exhibition, which took place from September 2 to 4, was described as the largest elevator and escalator showcase ever held in Africa. It attracted over 2,500 participants, including industry professionals, policymakers, and investors from more than 15 countries.
The event was organised by Expert International Fairs Org. Co. in partnership with Mena Management. It brought together leading companies from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Delegations from the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, construction firms, engineering companies, and real estate developers also participated in the exhibition.
The Chief Executive Officer of Expert Fairs, Mr. Riza Ozdemir, said the expo served as a strategic platform to display new technologies and strengthen the presence of global companies in Africa’s fast-growing urban development sector.
He explained that the exhibition highlighted Nigeria’s role as a regional hub for vertical mobility innovation and infrastructure growth, especially as urbanisation continues to expand across African cities.
“The event also positioned Nigeria as a regional hub for vertical mobility innovation and infrastructure growth,” Ozdemir stated.
The expo featured next-generation elevator and escalator systems, including smart mobility solutions powered by artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. Predictive maintenance technologies and energy-efficient designs with a focus on sustainability were also showcased.
Industry experts led technical sessions and private roundtables, where they discussed issues such as policy development, safety standards, innovation ecosystems, and certification challenges in emerging markets. Presentations also covered topics on urbanisation trends, smart city planning, and the integration of advanced safety protocols.
Public Relations Lead for the exhibition, Mr. Bassey Bassey, expressed satisfaction with the success of the event. He noted that the level of engagement exceeded expectations.
“We are proud to have hosted such a groundbreaking event in Nigeria. The turnout and industry engagement exceeded our expectations. We would like to thank our exhibitors, partners, and visitors for making it an impactful and successful event,” Bassey said.
The organisers confirmed that plans are already underway for the second edition of Lift Expo Nigeria, which is expected to attract broader participation and place stronger emphasis on innovation, safety, and sustainability in vertical transportation.
The first edition is considered a milestone for Nigeria’s construction and real estate sectors, as it showcased the country’s growing potential to attract global investment in infrastructure. Industry observers noted that the exhibition provided an opportunity for local businesses to connect with international firms, build partnerships, and adopt global best practices in smart urban development.
Nigeria’s rapid urbanisation has created increasing demand for vertical transportation systems in residential buildings, commercial complexes, and public infrastructure. Experts believe that collaborations emerging from the expo could help bridge infrastructure gaps and drive sustainable development in cities such as Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt.
For investors, the success of Lift Expo Nigeria has highlighted Nigeria as a viable destination for urban infrastructure projects. It also offered opportunities for technology transfer, local capacity building, and policy discussions that could shape future standards in the sector.
With global interest growing, industry stakeholders say the event could become a major platform for advancing vertical mobility solutions in Africa and positioning Nigeria as a leading market for construction innovation.
