A political support group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election has called on youths in the South-West to register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group, operating under the platform BTO4PBAT2027, made the appeal during its inaugural meeting held in Arigidi Akoko, Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Sunday.
The Director-General of the group, Adesuyi Adojutelegan, said the voter registration exercise currently being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented an opportunity for young Nigerians to actively participate in the country’s democratic process.
“I want to encourage our people in the South-West to take advantage of the online registration. If you just turned 18, it’s time for you to register. Your vote is your right, and you can only participate in the election with your voter card,” Adojutelegan stated.
He explained that the movement was fully committed to working for President Tinubu’s re-election, stressing that the group already enjoys the backing of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
As part of its outreach, the group distributed cash gifts to about 350 residents of the community under what it described as a grassroots empowerment initiative. Adojutelegan said the gesture was meant to show the group’s concern for the welfare of citizens while rallying support for the president.
“With an unwavering commitment to the continued progress of our nation, this movement is geared towards the re-election of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. Proudly sponsored by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister for Interior, this event was a resounding success, bringing together passionate supporters, community leaders, and citizens united for a greater Nigeria,” the Director-General added.
The group’s spokesperson, Folajimi Adewumi, said the campaign would continue to focus on building stronger grassroots support across the South-West region. He noted that young people, who form a significant portion of the electorate, have a key role to play in shaping Nigeria’s future.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had in August 2025 announced the commencement of its Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. According to the commission, the online pre-registration began on August 18 through its official portal, www.cvr.inecnigeria.org, while the physical registration kicked off on August 25 at its 37 state offices and 774 local government offices nationwide.
INEC clarified that the exercise is open to new voters aged 18 and above, those wishing to collect or transfer their PVCs, and citizens replacing lost or damaged cards. The commission further warned against multiple registrations, saying violators risk penalties under the law.
The electoral body also assured Nigerians that it was committed to consolidating the country’s democracy by ensuring that as many citizens as possible are able to participate in future elections. It urged all eligible voters to take advantage of the registration window to secure their PVCs.
With the 2027 general elections still over a year away, political groups across the country have started mobilising support for their preferred candidates. In the South-West, where President Tinubu hails from, mobilisation efforts are particularly strong, with many groups focusing on youth engagement and voter education.
Observers say the success of the CVR exercise will play a major role in determining voter turnout in 2027, especially among first-time voters. The emphasis on online pre-registration is also seen as a step towards making the process easier and more accessible for young people familiar with digital platforms.
For the BTO4PBAT2027 group, the focus is clear — ensuring that as many South-West youths as possible obtain their PVCs and show up at the polls to support the president’s second-term ambition.
