Ian Bohen is returning to the Taylor Sheridan-verse, with the former “Yellowstone” star booking a series regular role in “Lioness” Season 3.
Variety has learned exclusively that Bohen will appear in the third season of the Paramount+ military drama, with production now underway at SGS Studios in Texas. It was officially confirmed on Oct. 1 that “Lioness” had been renewed for a third season, nearly a year after the Season 2 premiere.
Bohen will play Grady, who is described as “a by-the-book Delta Force operator and primary K9 handler, skilled in battlefield tactics.” He joins a cast that also includes Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly, Laysla De Oliveira, Genesis Rodriguez, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill and Hannah Love Lanier.
This marks Bohen’s fourth project involving Sheridan, following his roles in “Yellowstone” as well as Sheridan’s feature “Wind River.” Bohen also had a role in “Sicario: Day of the Soldado,” which Sheridan wrote but did not direct. He is also the latest addition to the “Lioness” cast who has worked with Sheridan across multiple projects, joining fellow frequent collaborators Annable, Garrett, Jordan, Hébert, and Luckinbill.
Bohen most famously played the wrangler Ryan across all five seasons of “Yellowstone.” His other TV roles include “Teen Wolf,” “Mad Men,” and “Chicago P.D..” Aside from his aforementioned film roles, he has appeared in features such as “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Wyatt Earp,” and “Pearl Harbor.” Next up, he will executive produce and star in the series “To the Rescue,” an international co-production that is being sold at Mipcom by Zero Gravity.
He is repped by Zero Gravity and attorney Jason Hendler.
“Lioness” is one of several Sheridan shows currently airing on Paramount+. The prolific creator also has the second season of the oil field drama “Landman” coming out in November and Season 4 of “Mayor of Kingstown” out in October, while Season 3 of “Tulsa King” debuted on Sept. 21. Sheridan also has the “Yellowstone” spinoff “The Madison,” which is awaiting a release date. He is currently prepping the latest “Yellowstone” prequel, “1944,” as well as the Beth and Rip spinoff starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser.
“Lioness” is executive produced by Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Saldaña, Kidman, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Jill Wagner, David Lemanowicz, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman and Keith Cox. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios and is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
