“MasterChef” has scored a double renewal at Fox, taking the cooking competition series through its 16th and 17th seasons.
Gordon Ramsey will return as host and judge, with judges Joe Bastianich and Tiffany Derry returning as well. The series sees a group of home cooks compete for the chance to win a $250,000 prize. Season 15, which ran from May through September, was the top cooking show of the summer among adults age 18-49 and averaged 3.5 million viewers across platforms.
“MasterChef” is based on a format created by Franc Roddam and represented internationally by Banihay Entertainment. Banijay Americas’ Endemol Shine North America produces with Gordon Ramsey’s One Potato Two Potato. Ramsay executive produces alongside Elisabeth Murdoch, Danny Schrader, Gordon Ramsay, Jennifer Fazey, Pat Llewellyn, Ben Adler and Sharon Levy.
“’MasterChef’ remains a standout series for Fox, drawing its dedicated fanbase back season after season to witness amateur cooks transform into culinary masters,” said Yasmin Rawji, executive vice president of unscripted at Fox Entertainment. “Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich and Tiffany Derry provide culinary expertise, mentorship and heart and we can’t wait to see what they, as well as our partners at Endemol Shine North America, have in store for Seasons 16 and 17 of ‘MasterChef’.”
“Securing a two-season pickup for Seasons 16 and 17 is huge news and a testament to the unstoppable momentum of ‘MasterChef.’ A massive thank you to Fox for always opening doors and inspiring new creative ideas to keep the series fun and fresh,” said Michael Heyerman, executive producer and senior vice president of unscripted original series at Endemol Shine North America. “We have cooked up two absolutely great themes for the new season that fans are going to love. We’re thrilled to be back in the kitchen with Gordon, Joe and Tiffany, building on the incredible chemistry and high standards they set last season!”
