The new romantic drama, Regretting You, is in theaters now, with Mckenna Grace, Mason Thames, Allison Williams and Dave Franco starring in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover‘s bestselling novel. And just in time for the film’s release, Amazon has discounted the original book to just $11.99 for a limited time.
Fans of the film — or fans of Hoover — can catch up on the mother-daughter story, which tackles themes of first love, grief, tragedy, betrayal and heartbreak. In other words: everything you’d want in a juicy and cozy read. Audiences who have seen the film can also compare it with the book to see what was kept in the screenplay and what was different from the novel. While Hoover didn’t write the screenplay for Regretting You, the author personally approved the project and is credited as an executive producer on the film.

Regretting You tells the story of Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Clara whose fractured relationship is held together by their love for Morgan’s husband and Clara’s father, Chris. But when Chris is involved in a tragic accident, secrets are revealed that threaten to destroy Morgan and Clara’s relationship for good.
As the publisher notes state, “With each passing day, new secrets, resentment, and misunderstandings make mother and daughter fall further apart. So far apart, it might be impossible for them to ever fall back together.”
“Regretting You” (the book) is now available as a 367-page paperback on Amazon.com. Originally released in 2019, the novel has returned to the top of Amazon’s book charts on the heels of the new film release. The book is also available on Kindle and you can listen to “Regretting You” as an audiobook for just $0.99 right now as part of an Audible promo. The Audible version is currently back in the top ten of Amazon’s audiobook charts.
This is the second major screen adaptation for Hoover, who also wrote the namesake book that inspired the Blake Lively film, It Ends With Us. Of course, Hoover was also credited as an EP on It Ends With Us, though she’s largely stayed out of the fray since news broke of a riff-turned-legal battle between Lively and co-star Justin Baldoni.
